About Us
About Us

Doryoku teaches karate based on Sabaki techniques (where movements are circular and swift). These techniques help move the practitioner to a favorable position for counter-attack and more importantly, it is effective for a smaller-built person against bigger sized opponents.

We have also created an “Anti-Bullying Program” – Specifically to be conducted in schools.

Doryoku has its roots from Ashihara Karate, which has been acclaimed as the most practical style of karate created on the concept of sabaki.

With respect, we would like to pay tribute to our late Kancho, Hideyuki Ashihara, who has revolutionalised and modernised karate.

Ashihara Karate is well known in Japan and all over the world. Many instructors have gone on to start new schools on sabaki techniques - one of which is Enshin Karate, founded by Kancho Joko Ninomiya.

We have been greatly inspired after reading one of his books titled "My Journey In Karate". It is from here that we derived our name Doryoku meaning "putting our best effort in meeting challenges".

Last but not least, our most heartfelt thanks to Kancho Takumi Higashidani. He had personally touched our lives when he was here to teach and train with us. Kancho Higashidani has always been our mentor who has always been encouraging, motivating and imparting his skills and knowledge to us unselfishly.

Our members too had greatly benefitted from his trainings when he came to visit us.

Last but not least, we also believe that we (members and their families) are a family. Besides training, social interaction is another integral part of out belief. So far, we have organized birthdays, outings to Pulau Ubin, Sentosa, East Coast (Cycling), and picnics.

So, what are you waiting for?

Come and be a part of this FAMILY!
